In October: Atascadero Wears Pink

By the Atascadero Police Foundation

What is the Pink Patch Project?

The Pink Patch Project was launched in 2013 to raise awareness about breast cancer and to help fund vital research and support initiatives. Since then, over 900 unique pink patches have been designed and sold by Pink Patch Project partners to benefit breast cancer research. The Atascadero Police Foundation (APF) is proud to be a Pink Patch partner in 2024 and police officers in Atascadero will have the ability to proudly wear A-town pink patches on their uniforms throughout the month. These eye-catching patches are more than just a fashion statement—they represent hope, solidarity, and our collective commitment to fighting cancer.

Supporting the Jacqualyn Palchak Cancer Fund

All proceeds from the sale of our pink patches and lapel pins will benefit the Jacqualyn Palchak Cancer Fund. This incredible fund has been supporting cancer research and providing essential resources for individuals and families impacted by cancer within our San Luis Obispo County community since 2003. By purchasing these items, you’re not just showing your support; you’re actively contributing to local efforts that make a real difference in the lives of those affected by this disease.

Get Your Pink Patch & Lapel Pin

You can purchase pink patches and lapel pins for $10 each.

You can purchase patches and pins at the Atascadero Police Department located at 5505 El Camino Real, Atascadero, CA Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 3 PM ( cash purchases only). Join APF in Making a Difference

We invite everyone to join us in the Pink Patch Project and support this important initiative. Whether you’re a police officer wearing the patch with pride or a community member sporting a pin, together we can show our support for those fighting breast cancer. Let’s come together to honor survivors, remember loved ones lost, and contribute to ongoing research efforts.

Thank you for standing with us as we launch this important campaign in 2024. Together, we can make a positive impact in our community!

Let’s paint Atascadero pink for a purpose!

Annual Cancer Celebration: 2024!

Since 2009, the JPCF has been hosting our Cancer Survivor Celebration luncheon. The 2024 “Celebration” held on September 7th was a tremendous success with close to 100 attendees. This year’s theme was “Be Well in Body, Mind & Spirit”, with each cancer survivor receiving a special themed gift bag. Guest speakers included David Palchak MD of PCR Oncology and Annie Hope, owner of Yoga Village in Templeton. Patricia Deiro Bright provided a heartwarming testimonial of her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A delicious barbecued chicken lunch was provided by the Arroyo Grande Lions Club and they even made a generous $500 donation to JPCF. The day was topped off with TWO of Dr. Palchak’s freshly baked Apple Pie’s being auctioned off to the highest bidders!

Thank you to our sponsors: PCR Oncology, Distinctive Resorts, Burdine Printing & Graphics, Kardel Insurance Services, Okui Farms, Grand Avenue Self Storage, E.C. Loomis Insurance and Miner’s Hardware. Special thanks to our supporters: Arroyo Grande Lions Club, Saint John’s Lutheran Church, and Bill & Marilyn Cockshott.

Recap of our 2023 Cancer Survivor Celebration:

It has been twenty years since the Jacqualyn Palchak Cancer Fund (JPCF) began operating as a non-profit supporting cancer research in South San Luis Obispo County. Significant progress has been made in cancer treatment over these twenty years in part through the work done by David Palchak, MD and PCR Oncology.

This year’s Cancer Survivor Celebration luncheon held on October 21st was especially significant and meaningful due to our 20 year milestone anniversary. We had speakers in the oncology field that included Dr. Palchak and Oncology Nurse Phea Castro.

PCR’s Physician Assistant Kimen Colgan provided wonderful music and a delicious BBQ lunch was generously provided by the Arroyo Grande Lions Club. We even auctioned off a freshly baked apple pie made by Dr. Palchak. All cancer survivors received a celebratory gift bag filled with special goodies and a free raffle provided a lot of fun prizes. Thanks to all who attended!

2021 VIRTUAL CANCER SURVIVOR CELEBRATION

Last year circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the 2020 JPCF’s Annual Cancer Survivor Celebration.

The pandemic is waning, but the risk of an indoor event remains. We continue to want to celebrate all of the good that comes with life after a cancer experience and are trying a virtual celebration this year. The link below should take you to a video introducing the JPCF Board of Directors and followed by Dr. Palchak’s talk, in which he reviews the inspiration for the celebration and an overview of recent advances in cancer medicine.

In spite of the COVID crisis, JPCF continues to provide resources for cancer research through clinical trials and your continued financial support is greatly appreciated.
